The artistry that was the pottery majolica during the Victorian era, also became the source of of the stunningly
beautiful 19th century Black figural.

Today, some of the most treasured pieces of this brightly colored, highly glazed earthenware are those which depict Black children and adults in delicate features and splendid hues.  During the middle of the 19th century, craftsmen in Europe pleased people with particular stoneware, which was sculpted, painted in brilliant shades of red, green, yellow, blue, orange, brown,  purple, and dipped in a tin glaze.
